Amazon, one of the largest companies in the world, is looking for an executive with knowledge and experience in blockchain to join its payments team focused on accepting payments. Given the technological potential of Amazon and the constant exploration of new areas of development, it is possible that the company is looking at a new digital currency (something similar to what Facebook was able to do).
Amazon’s announcement is aimed at someone capable of developing the firm’s strategy for a digital currency and blockchain technology, as well as putting together a product roadmap. To do this, you sign up for someone with previous experience in central bank digital currencies (CBDC), and “traditional” cryptocurrencies.
The firm’s publication also explains that whoever occupies the position will work in a coordinated manner with the rest of the company to present a plan that addresses the customer’s experience in payments and the technical strategy of the project.
Finally, there is also the possibility that Amazon is considering accepting crypto payments within its e-commerce platform. As happened with Tesla a few months ago, an announcement of these characteristics could trigger investor confidence in the market, and eventually the price of BTC and the main cryptocurrencies.
