Christopher Nolan is one of the most popular and acclaimed film directors in recent years and in 2020 we have seen him related to video games in different ways. We first saw screenings of some of his films in Fortnite; He then appeared at The Game Awards 2020 to present the Game of the Year award. Now, he gave an interview where he said that he would be interested in making a video game, although you don’t expect it to happen either.
Recently Geoff Keighley, producer and host of The Game Awards 2020, had an interview with Nolan to promote Tenet’s home release. There the filmmaker made it clear that he has a deep respect for video games, since it is something that takes a lot of time and effort.
“Making movies is complicated; it takes a lot of time. Making video games is even much more complicated and takes even more time, ”he explained.
“The way the video game industry works – and you know this much better than I do – is really difficult… you know, you can’t… you don’t want to be making a licensed game, you don’t want to tie it to something using an established brand signature ”, mentioned the director. ” It’s the same when someone makes the video game adaptation for cinema, you don’t want it to be something that depends on the brand, you want it to be something great on its own merits. “
