Donghua the King’s Avatar gets a third season

On the official site for the Chinese (donghua) animated adaptation of Hu Dielan’s novels, Quanzhi Gaoshou (The King’s Avatar), production of a third season was announced. The press release included a promotional image, but did not confirm a release date.

The twenty-episode first season aired via distribution platforms in China between April 7 and June 16, 2017, produced by B.CMAY PICTURES studios and directed by Ke Xiong and scripts written by Sha Liang, Xing Liu, and Ke Zhu. The same team produced the twelve-episode second season, this time produced at Colored Pencil Animation studios and released in September 2020.

Synopsis of The King’s Avatar

Ye Xiu, widely regarded as a pioneer and top-tier professional gamer in the online multiplayer game Glory, is dubbed the “God of Battle” for his abilities and contributions to the game over the years. However, when he is forced to retire from the team and leave his playing career behind, he finds work at a nearby internet cafe. There, when Glory launches his 10th servitor, he launches into the game once more using a new character named “Lord Grim”.

Ye Xiu’s first achievements on the new server immediately attract the attention of many players, as well as the great guilds, leading them to wonder about the identity of this exceptional player.
