Facebook lost 20 million monthly users in Europe

This loss was recorded in the first half of 2022.

Facebook is one of the most used social networks around the world, but according to data presented by TradingPlatforms.com, the platform led by Mark Zuckerberg lost 20 million monthly active users in the first half of 2022.

In the last quarter of 2021, Facebook reached a peak of monthly active users in Europe with 427 million, 8 million more users than in 2020 and 33 million more than in the period before the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with the loss of this first semester, the level of active monthly users returns to pre-pandemic levels.

Facebook’s current focus does not seem to be in Europe or North America but in other territories – such as Asia in the Pacific region – where the company has seen growth in the number of users. It is worth remembering that, in India alone, Facebook has almost 330 million users.
