The cable will be able to connect 23 African countries and other countries in the Middle East and Western Europe.
Facebook is currently building a new submarine cable that will be able to triple Internet capacity in Africa. Thanks to this project – 2Africa – Facebook will be able to connect 23 African countries and other countries in the Middle East and Europe, including Portugal.
Since only a quarter of Africa is connected to the Internet, it is clear that this cable will increase the capacity and reliability of the connection. “The pandemic of Covid -19 increased the Importance of connectivity since billions of people around the world rely on the Internet to work, go to school and stay connected to the people they care about”, can be read in the Facebook statement according to TechRadar.
