France has recorded 14 deaths associated with covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since the pandemic began to 29,875, the French health authorities said in a statement today.
Of the total deaths, 19,378 were registered in hospitals and the remainder in nursing homes, a number that the French Government only updates once a week and which, compared to the last count, means a drop in the number of deaths in geriatric centers in the last weeks.
According to the French health authorities, in the last 24 hours, 573 infected people are in intensive care units in different hospitals in the country, nine fewer than the day before.
The total number of confirmed cases is 166,378, with 659 new cases diagnosed since yesterday.
French Guiana remains the region of greatest concern to the French authorities, with about 4,000 confirmed cases in that overseas region that borders Brazil.
The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than 516,000 deaths and infected more than 10.71 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.
