On the official site for the upcoming film adaptation of the manga by Shigeru Mizuki, Gegege no Kitarou, entitled “Kitaro Tanjou – Gegege no Nazo (The Birth of Kitaro – The Mystery of GeGeGe) ”, A new promotional image of the project was revealed. The promotional image shows an image of Kitarou looking through a bandage shroud and a slogan that translates to: “What kind of thing are you?“. The film is based on the sixth anime of Gegege no Kitarou, and explore the mysteries surrounding Kitarou’s birth.
On the other hand, the most recent series was, in fact, the sixth anime adaptation of this franchise, and aired between April 2018 and March 2020, with a total of ninety-seven episodes produced by the studios. Toei Animation, under the direction of Kouji Ogawa. Mizuki published the original manga between 1960 and 1969 in Japan.
- Gou Koga (Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, Dokidoki! Precure, Xenosaga The Animation) is in charge of the direction of the feature film in the studios Toei Animation.
- Hiroyuki Yoshino (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Shuumatsu no Izetta) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.

Synopsis of Gegege no Kitarou
The classic story of Gegege no Kitarou told once again. The story is the usual one in the series. Kitarou is a boy who lives in the Gegege Forest / Cemetery (lands many Yokai roam through) with his near-dead father (who only survives in his eye), Sunakake Babaa, NekoMusume, and Konaki Jiji. One difference between this Kitarou and all the others that came before him is that this one has brown hair instead of the standard grayish silver.
