John Wick Chapter 4 Review 2023

Keanu Reeves' Film Is An Electrifying Entertainer

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Ian McShane

Director: Chad Stahelski

Rating: Three and a half stars (out of 5)

John Wick: Chapter 4 may not seem like it would be fun to watch for nearly three hours, but the film comes close to being the most entertaining of recent years thanks to a terrific screenplay and excellent performances. The movie, directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch, is an exciting and fast-paced finale to the franchise that promises to whet our appetite for future spinoffs. The action-packed film, which relies on impressive stunts and camera work by cinematographer Dan Laustsen, never hits a dull moment.

Keanu Reeves delivers a compelling performance as the titular hitman, facing off against a ruthless villain, Marquis Vincent de Gramont, played by Bill Skarsgard, who seeks to destroy “the idea of John Wick.” The film takes us on a journey from New York to Osaka, Paris, and Berlin, with elaborate fight sequences, dizzying shootouts and chases, and vibrant set pieces. Despite some moments where tighter editing may have been beneficial, the film’s climax in front of the Sacre-Couer Basilica in Paris is a standout moment that demonstrates the director’s understanding of the dynamics of the genre.

The film is an unabashedly old-school action flick that creates space for a reinvention of the genre, with Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen providing strong performances that are bolstered by witty and humorous verbal sparring. All in all, John Wick: Chapter 4 is a riveting and pulse-pounding movie that doesn’t skimp on ambition, technical flair, or firepower.

Review:

I recently watched John Wick Chapter 4 and I have to say, it was pretty damn awesome! I’m a huge fan of the franchise and this movie did not disappoint.

The action scenes were even more intense than in previous movies, if that’s even possible. I mean, Keanu Reeves as John Wick is just a force to be reckoned with. The stunts were mind-blowing and the fight choreography was top-notch. The cinematography was also stunning, with some beautiful shots and interesting camera angles.

What I also appreciated about this movie was that it delved deeper into the world of the High Table and the inner workings of the assassins’ society. We got to see more of the mysterious characters who control everything from behind the scenes and it made the story even more intriguing.

The cast was fantastic as well, with some great additions to the franchise. I won’t spoil anything, but there were some surprising appearances and alliances that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Overall, I would definitely recommend John Wick Chapter 4 to any action movie fan. It’s a non-stop adrenaline rush with a compelling story and amazing performances. Can’t wait for the next one!
