Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru anime will have special concert in December

Producing the anime adaptation of the light novels Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Run with the Wind) announced that a special concert has been scheduled for next December 29 in The Ebisu Garden Hall in Tokyo. The studies Production IG confirmed their participation in the event through cinematics that will be presented to the public.

The press release writes: «Production IG, the animation company behind “Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Run with the Wind)”, will participate in the production of the live video, which has been reissued for this concert from the scenes selected by Yuki Hayashi, the composer of the soundtrack, to accompany the songs. It will be a special day where you can enjoy the music of the special band orchestra along with many famous scenes. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to experience the world of the film in real life ahead of Hakone Ekiden (January 2-3, 2022), the relay race the protagonists set out to complete.».

On the other hand, the franchise is based on a novel written by Shion miura and published by the publisher Shinchosha in September 2006. The play inspired a manga adaptation of the hand of Sorata unno, which was published in the magazines Weekly Young Jump and Monthly Young Jump from the publisher Shueisha between October 2007 and November 2009, with a total of six volumes.

In addition to a live-action film, the original work inspired a twenty-three-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. Production IG, under the direction of Kazuya nomura and scripts written by Yuki hayashi, released in October 2018 in Japan and distributed by Sentai Filmworks in the West. The adaptation covered the entirety of the play, including the epilogue, so there is no chance for a second season.

Synopsis of Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru

Kakeru Kurahara, a former Sendai Josei high school runner, is chased in a shop for stealing. Freeing himself from his pursuer, he meets Haiji Kiyose, another student at his university. Haiji is impressed by Kakeru’s agility and convinces him to live in Chikusei-sou, the ramshackle apartment where Haiji resides with eight other students. Having lost his entire deposit to the apartment in a mahjong room, Kakeru reluctantly accepts the offer.

However, Haiji reveals a secret during Kakeru’s welcoming party: the apartment is actually the residence of the Kansei University Athletics Club. He reveals his ultimate goal of participating in the Hakone Ekiden, one of the most important university relay races in Japan. Unfortunately, all the residents, apart from Haiji and Kakeru, are complete newbies to athletics. And what’s worse, none of the townspeople are even remotely interested in participating in Haiji’s ridiculous plan! With just a few months to go until the deadline, can the fourth year convince them otherwise and realize their elusive dream of racing the Hakone Ekiden?
