On the official site for the animated adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, Kimetsu no Yaiba, a new promotional image for the second season of the project was posted. This second season titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen does not have a scheduled premiere date yet, however, it is confirmed for this year.
On the other hand, Koyoharu Gotouge began the publication of the original manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2016, and ended it in May 2020 with a total of twenty-three compilation volumes. The work also inspired multiple spinoff series and a novelization, as well as a feature film titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen.
- Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) will again direct the series at Ufotable Studios (Fate / Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu).
- Akira Matsushima (Maria-sama ga Miteru, Tales of Zestiria the X) will handle character design in conjunction with Miyuki Sato, Yoko Kajiyama, and Mika Kikuchi, who served as supporting character designers on the first season and the film.
- Yuki Kajiura (Sword Art Online, Fate / Zero, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica) and Gou Shiina (Tales of Zestiria the X, Juuni Taisen, God Eater) will be in charge of the composition of the soundtrack.
Synopsis of Kimetsu no Yaiba
In the Taisho era in Japan, Tanjirou Kamado is a kind and intelligent boy who lives with his family in the mountains. Tanjirou has become the head of his family after the death of his father, making constant trips to the village at the foot of the mountain to sell firewood and charcoal.
However, his life changes when one day, returning home from a night out, he discovers that his family has been killed by a demon.
