Medium Intensity Earthquake is Perceived in the Tarapacá Region

What Happened?

The morning of this Saturday, June 27, at 03:52 hours, an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 degrees on the Richter scale affected the northern part of the country, according to the Seismological Center of the University of Chile.

According to the data provided by the agency, the epicenter was located 60 km west of Iquique, in the Tarapacá Region, with a depth of 35.6 km.

What Did Onemi Say?

Onemi reported that preliminary damage to people, structures or alteration of basic services as a result of the earthquake was not reported and SHOA indicated that it does not have the necessary characteristics to generate a tsunami.
