It is the new feature launched by Facebook for its messaging app.
Facebook’s messaging app Messenger has just got a feature that allows video calls with up to 50 participants named Messenger Rooms. The goal is to make Messenger a rival to apps like Zoom and Skype.
Messenger Rooms does not require a Facebook account and will be a free service with no time limit. “All the products [already available] are mainly focused on companies and we thought that there was the need to do something in the consumer’s space. [Messenger Rooms] was made to be more casual. Not everything has to be planned beforehand ”, can be read in the statement by Mark Zuckerberg.
Note that Facebook’s plan is that eventually, users can join conversations in Messenger Rooms from WhatsApp and Instagram. Messenger Rooms will launch throughout this week in some territories, gradually expanding to more markets over time.
