New manga adaptation of No Game No Life begins

As announced in the first issue of 2022 of the magazine Monthly Comic Alive from the publisher Kadokawa, began the new manga adaptation of the light novels No Game No Life. Ryu naitou (Kemono Friends 2, Kurokami Miko Maria Witch, Starship Operators) is in charge of this new adaptation. The statement writes:

«“No Game No Life” describes the story of a pair of genius brothers summoned to other worlds where all conflicts are determined and resolved through games. In “Arc 2: Eastern Federation,” the second and third volumes of the original light novels will be adapted into manga. In a world where sixteen races with different powers fight for survival, Sora and Shiro are now members of the weakest race: “the human race.

” The story begins with the two of them declaring: “We will both live as the weak, we will fight as the weak, and we will destroy the strong as the weak.”

On the other hand, Yuu kamiya publishes the light novels through the publishing label MF Bunko J from the publisher Kadokawa since April 2012, with the eleventh volume published on November 25 in Japan. A manga adaptation by the hand of Mashiro Hiiragi was published irregularly from January 2013, until the arrival of a new adaptation in November 2021 by Ryu naitou. The franchise already has more than 6 million copies in accumulated circulation.

The play inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios. Madhouse, under the direction of Atsuko Ishizuka and scripts written by Jukki Hanada, released in April 2014. The feature film No Game No Life: Zero It featured the same production team and was released in Japan on July 15, 2017. Since then the franchise has had no new updates on new projects, and the hiatus of more than three years since the publication of the tenth volume of the light novels it doesn’t help much in that regard either.

No Game No Life Synopsis

No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, hikikomori brothers and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username “Blank.” They see the real world as another lousy game; However, a strange email challenging them to a game of chess changes everything: the brother and sister plunge into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the god of games.

The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict, from petty disputes to the fate of entire countries, are resolved not through war, but through high-stakes games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule in which each party must bet something that it considers to be of equal value to the other party’s bet. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius duo Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet and become the gods of this new world where games are everything.
