‘No Time to Die’: Daniel Craig Personally Designed the Nearly $10,000 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Watch

James Bond is a cultural phenomenon beloved by many and for more reasons than one. The international spy is known for his suave moves on the ladies, his intelligence abilities in the field, and unmatched combat skills. However, it’s his style that truly ties the bow on his whole personality.

Throughout the years, fans have watched 007 rock some jaw-dropping items from high-end designers with the watches tying Bond’s looks together and also acting as a weapon. Interestingly actor Daniel Craig personally designed the nearly $10,000 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Watch He Wears in No Time To Die.

James Bond’s watches in the books and movies differ greatly

The relationship between the Bond franchise and watchmaker Omega can be traced back to 1995 when the two partnered on the Bond movie GoldenEye. Since then, the company and the franchise have had a close working relationship with No Time To Die, marking the ninth time Bond wears a timepiece designed by Omega.

Although the Bond movies have flourished in the area of product placement through the years, the franchise’s costume designer insists that their partnership with the Swiss company has nothing to do with incentives. In an interview, Lindy Hemming, the Bond costume designer, mentioned that she approached the company in 1995 for collaboration, and Omega was interested.

While designing the Bond outfits, Hemming decided to put her spin on the popular agent by making him “more modern and European.” The changes extended from his suits to his watch. In the books 007 rocks a Rolex, but when Pierce Brosnan made his Bond debut in 1995, Hemming decided to have him wear an Omega as “Rolex was part of a city boy culture. It didn’t seem appropriate to Bond at that moment.”

Recently he revealed that his upcoming film No Time To Die would be his final appearance as Bond leaving many fans upset and looking for his potential replacements.

Craig’s massive involvement in No Time To Die is a true testament to how big of shoes the next Bond will have to fill. As Forbes reports, Craig had a significant role to play in ensuring 007 got his elegant and high-end Omega Seamaster Diver 300M watch.

The publication notes that the talented actor weighed in significantly when it came to the watch’s design. The site reports that fans have Craig to thank for when it comes to the watch’s titanium mesh bracelet, which Forbes says is historically accurate as the military used the material due to its strength.

Craig also reportedly suggested that the watch be lightweight and asked the manufacturer to incorporate some colors for a unique edge. He also indicated that the case should have a strong and lightweight Grade 2 titanium which will help the watch adopt a shine as it ages.

The actor stated that when he first played Bond, he wanted a watch that he could use to knock out his victims with. Although the production team never got to work on such a design at the time, Craig ensured that his idea would find a way into future films.

Omega and its placement in the Bond universe

Omega’s history can be traced back to the 1800s. However, it wasn’t until the 1900s that the Swiss company fully incorporated its famous name into its brand. Omega produces special edition exclusive watches for every Bond film.

For those who would love to rock the same timepiece as 007, you need to know that there are two versions of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M.
