‘Old’: M. Night Shyamalan shares a haunting image from the shoot

The new and long-awaited film from the director of "The Sixth Sense" has just finished shooting.

M. Night Shyamalan’s films tend to be born from mystery and develop in such a way that their end is an immense surprise for unsuspecting viewers, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get some small glimpses, before the current film is released, the Director is delighted to share the film’s progress with the world. This has been the case of ‘Old’, whose filming over the last two months has been widely publicized by Shyamalan through his social networks, the details of his delay still remains a secret.

Based on Collider’s sources, however, it could be guessed that his next film after Glass was going to be a free adaptation of Sandcastle, a French comic by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeteers. Indeed, it seems clear that ‘Old’ will revolve around a group of people lost on a beach (corresponding to the Dominican Republic, where filming has taken place using a 45 mm format), who have to deal with a series of paranormal events without clear out.

The ambiguity of the plot has caused an image published by Shyamalan shortly before the end of filming to greatly disturb his followers, because of how it seems to show a sea monster that the cast led by Gael García Bernal, Eliza Scanlen, Rufus Sewell would have to face , Vicky Krieps and Alex Wolff, among others. The photo is as follows:

“We have two days left of filming Old. Most of the team has finished. I am exhausted and grateful. We still have 19 shots to finish ”, wrote the director of The Sixth Sense, appearing in a swimming pool with a wetsuit and an unidentified figure behind him. It can be an animatronic that serves to give life to some type of creature, or simply an iron structure on which the team works.

It has been an incredible experience, ”wrote the filmmaker. “I am very grateful to the people of the Dominican Republic who have cared so much for us and made us feel so welcome. It is one of the most beautiful countries and its people are very sweet. I think of you as I travel back to Philadelphia. ”

Old is scheduled to premiere on July 23, 2021. Before that, Shyamalan has yet to release the second season of Servanta at the beginning of the year.
