Original anime Odd Taxi surpasses 1,000 reservations on Blu-ray BOX

As previously reported, the original Odd Taxi animation project had launched a special project in June noting that no compilation Blu-ray BOX packages would be released unless 300 reservations were exceeded. Recently, the official Twitter account of the project announced that fortunately they have already exceeded 1,000.

Initially, it was not planned to release a Blu-ray BOX in light of the recent drop in anime Blu-ray / DVD sales, but after receiving requests from many people, the project got the green light. The more orders received, the more additional items will be added. The set is priced at 27,500 yen (about $249), and orders will be received from June 29 to September 30, 2021. Shipping is scheduled for March 2022.

Upon reaching 900 orders at the end of July, the anime’s official Twitter account announced, “The Blu-ray BOX will accept orders from abroad. The English website will be published soon”. On the other hand, the original series produced by OLM studios in collaboration with P.I.C.S., aired during the Spring-2021 season (April-June), with thirteen episodes.

Odd Taxi Synopsis

Eccentric and forceful, the Odokawa walrus leads a relatively normal life. She drives a taxi for a living, and there she meets several unique people: the unemployed Kabasawa who is determined to go viral, the mysterious nurse Shirakawa, the struggling comic duo “Homo Sapiens” and Dobu, a known criminal.

But Odokawa’s simple way of life is about to change. The case of a missing girl that the police have been tracking leads to him, and now both the yakuza and a corrupt police duo are after him. Set in a strangely familiar city full of unusual individuals, Odd Taxi is a strange story about a humble taxi driver and the mystery of a lost high school student.
