A girl, her mother and her grandfather were drowned in a swimming pool in New Jersey, United States, after the adults tried to rescue the minor who did not know how to swim.
How Did the Accident Happen?
The tragic situation occurred in the courtyard pool of the family home, located in East Brunswick Township, when the eight-year-old girl, identified as Sacchi Patel, jumped into the water in a very deep area.
Realizing what had happened, an aunt asked for help from the minor’s grandfather, Bharat Patel, 62, who jumped into the water to try to rescue his granddaughter, according to the New York Post.
The man, however, did not know how to swim, as did his daughter Nisha Patel, 33, the girl’s mother, who also entered the pool to try to save the life of her daughter and father.
Unfortunately, the three family members died from not knowing how to swim and not being able to surface on time, according to detailed information by the police.
The aunt who witnessed the entire scene was able to get the girl out of the water, but it was too late for her resuscitation.
What Did the Authorities Say?
“The entire East Brunswick community is shocked and saddened,” said Mayor Brad Cohen.
“Our condolences are with the family and that they can find the strength of the community that shares their pain,” concluded the authority.
