The World Health Organization was concerned about the trend of increasing cases of Covid-19 in Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and some Asian countries.
A lot of countries are lifting the restrictive measures in combating the pandemic of Covid -19. The Director-General of the World Health Organization ( WHO ), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed this Monday at the daily press conference that the battle against coronavirus is far from over.
“With quarantines in Europe being lightened in the face of decreasing numbers of new cases from Covid -19, we continue to urge countries to isolate, test and treat all cases and find all contacts to ensure that the decreasing trends continue, ”stressed the WHO official.
“The pandemic is far from over. The WHO continues to be concerned with the growing trends in Africa, eastern Europe, Latin America, and some Asian countries. As in all regions, there is an underreporting of cases and deaths in many countries in these regions because of the low testing capacity, ” added Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, calling once again for the union of countries.
“The virus will not be defeated if we are not united. If we are not united, the virus will exploit the cracks between us and will continue to create chaos. Lives will be lost, ”he said.
