Whatsapp Video calls now allow eight participants

The messaging app has doubled capacity but is still below main rivals.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp now support a total of eight people, doubling the previous capacity.

When you start a video call, you can choose the eight participants or add them as the conversation continues. At the moment this feature is available only on iOS devices and Android devices will have to wait a little longer

Despite this increase to eight people, WhatsApp video call capacity is still less compared to its rivals. As The Verge recalls, Google Duo allows up to 12 people, FaceTime goes up to 32, Skype and Messenger Rooms go up to 50 and Zoom up to 100.
