WhatsApp: What does the camel emoji mean?

The classic animal used as transport in the Middle East Discover its meaning on WhatsApp!

Happy king’s day! If you have not received anything on this day, perhaps it was because the camel of the Magi from the East was delayed. But it does not matter, you can send the emoji to congratulate your loved ones on WhatsApp and it will surely arrive in time.

Camel, or two-humped camel emoji is the representation of the famous desert animal, which is recognized for its ability to dispense with water or food for long periods of time thanks to the humps on its back. It is generally associated with hot weather, desert places, the Middle East and Central Asia, as well as Wednesday (Hump Day).

It should not be confused with Camel, dromedary, which only has one hump, although its applications are usually the same. The camel is a symbol of the ability to overcome difficulties no matter what, so the emoji is sometimes used in this sense, however, this reference is less common than its direct meaning of the mammal.

In most platforms it is presented with a long neck with two large humps on the back, in light brown or yellowish color, sometimes with a shaggy mane and humps, in full profile on all fours facing left.

It is worth mentioning that all manufacturers of web services, operating systems or devices can create Emoji designs according to their own corporate style and vision, so Samsung’s design features a camel with shaggy hair and a slight smile, while Previously, Google’s design featured a blanket on its back, as for transportation.

Two-Hump Camel was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 under the name “Bactrian Camel” and a few years later it was added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
