WhatsApp: What does the radio emoji mean?

Do you like classic items? Here we tell you when to use the WhatsApp radio emoji

The arrival of emojis to the digital world has made it easier for users to express their feelings in conversations on WhatsApp and other platforms. They are generally divided into six categories among which are yellow faces, food, animals, weather conditions, numbers and symbols.

While it is true that the meaning of many icons can be deciphered with the naked eye, there are some others that require a greater interpretation, according to the cultural context and the conversation that is taking place on WhatsApp or other platforms.

Today we have to talk about the radio emoji, which represents the old device with an antenna, and this is perhaps the reason why it has not been used for many years, at least in a popular way. It is represented in various colors and styles with a speaker, antenna, dial and knobs.

Undoubtedly, this emoticon is not used much, but users can apply it when they want to draw attention to certain words that are going to comment or highlight that what has been mentioned is very relevant and should be heard by more people in the world.

It is important to mention that, despite having the same Unicode encoding, each platform can vary the design of each emoji to adapt to its operating system or interface. On many occasions this generates a great difference in the interpretation of the same symbol.

The emoji can be seen in the comments during various news events. Its Radio name was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 some years later it was added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
