WhatsApp: What does the sparkle emoji mean?

If you still feel the “magic” of Christmas, this emoji is the right one. Know its meaning on WhatsApp!

In these days of celebration, your smartphone will surely not stop receiving messages with good wishes and congratulations for the New Year, so it is best to keep the seasonal emojis in mind to exploit them to the fullest when responding on WhatsApp.

The Sparkles emoji is usually shown with three grouped four-point yellow stars, one larger than the other two that are located to the left or right. It is generally used to refer to something shiny, or even something that is sparkling clean.

At other times it can also mean something wonderful, whether it be talking about mood or physical appearance. Other interpretations can be for “good”, “magical” and “true” and even “novel”. When the sparkle emoji is sent to talk about feelings, it is always in a positive sense like love, happiness, beauty, gratitude, and emotion.

It should not be confused with the bright star or the dizzy emoji, although due to its appearance it can be overlaid in applications.

It is worth mentioning that all manufacturers of web services, operating systems or devices can create Emoji designs according to their own corporate style and vision, so on many platforms they can vary, although in most cases they are four-point stars yellow in color, in some versions other colors are used.

For example, Microsoft’s flashes are multi-colored, as Twitter’s previously were, while Samsung’s flashes are rendered in a night sky, suggesting fireworks flares. For its part, the Twitter mobile app uses sparkles as a button that users can tap to toggle between the most recent and most important tweets on their timeline.

Sparkles was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010 and some years later it was added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
